Gordon Craig Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) Gentlemen, Made my last visit to the Budapest weekly Coin and Stamp Show yesterday. I don't normally buy insignia not attached to a uniform/cap etc but this lone German article sitting amongst Hungarian items just cried out to be bought. It is an early East German police cap badge in the shape of the well know German police star. Most of the silver gilding has long since disappeared but a little is still visible. What is surprising is that most of the painted state colours are still present. These normally get knocked off by poor handling over the years. The cap badge is 2.6cm in diametre. Just a hair over one inch. Regards, Gordon Edited August 5, 2009 by Gordon Craig
Gordon Craig Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 The back of the cap badge showing the manufacturers name "PRAWEMA" around the bottom of the badge.
Gordon Craig Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 One example of a cap this type of badge would have been worn on. Unfortunately, I don't own this cap. This is just a picture from my archives.
