Mervyn Mitton Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 (edited) I believe this to be a genuine Luftwaffe parachutists passing out badge - hopefully, our Forum experts will be able to confirm this - or, tell me otherwise ? The badge is 5 cm. top to bottom. 4 cm. from side to side. Weight is exactly 40 gms. The name on the reverse - above the Swastika is : W.DEUMER SUDENSCHEID. I have close-ups of the pin and hook, since I know these can be problem areas. Any help will be much appreciated - also, any indication to value - not my field. J Temple-West Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Sorry Mervyn...A pretty poor fake. When compared with an original example by Deumer, all becomes clear.
Mervyn Mitton Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 Thankyou John - fortunately I will be able to get money back - but my word, the German collecting field is difficult. I am most grateful for your help. Mervyn.
Tom D. Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Hi Mervyn, I can only agree with John, a poor reproduction. These can also be found with Assmann maker marks, and also Meybauer and just "800". Tom
