    Purple Heart Citation

    Good Day All,

Not sure if this is the correct forum but have to start somewhere-right?

I would like to get information on how I can get a duplicate Purple Heart citation that my Dad received in Viet Nam. He was a retired US Army 1st Sergeant/Msgt. He passed away in 2000. About a year after his death, my Mom was going through his framed citations, removing them and placing them in a scrapbook. She donated the frames to a local Goodwill store. It was sometime later we realized the PH citation was missing. I believe it got overlooked and was still in a frame that was donated. I have the original awarded PH as well as the orders awarding it to him, but have been unable to get any kind of a response from different agencies asking the original question.

If anyone could assist by providing a good contact address, I would be most appreciative.

If you like, you may contact me via my regular e-mail: keeneagle@verizon.net

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Start with the National Archives contacts: http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/get-service-records.html

If they can't help you, they should be able to refer you to someone who can. Good luck. Doc

If you write NPRC in St Louis they will sell you a dupe for $50. It takes over a year to get.

    Good Luck.

    Thanks Dave,

I have actually written them about 4 months ago so "maybe" in 9 months or so I'll get a response2014.gif

    GUESS WHAT!

The duplicate citation for my Dad's Purple Heart FINALLY arrived on July 1, 2010. Didn't take TOO long (LOL) [and it was FREE]

Anyway, just wanted to share with my friends.
