Best regards Hi, The ribbons are from L-R: Order of the British Empire (Civil Division), Order of St. John of Jerusalem (Knight?), King's police Medal for Distinguished Service and Police Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (1951). Doc thank you Riley for this quick reply and ID of the ribbons! Does anyone knows if these are common ribbons for police senior officers? Tony Farrell
The QPM and Police LSM are pretty much de rigeur for very senior officers - and it's not uncommon to find a CBE thrown in to the bargain. That said, these days, there are quite a few Assistant Chief Constables and Deputy Chief Constables without any medal ribbons.

I know the story about the bars on Belgian uniforms because we have the same tradition that at some point a senior officer must have typical medals... I try to find uniforms from UK senior officers but always prefer the ones with some "bars" on because that tells something about the man who wore the uniform. Not easy to find however Edited September 19, 2009 by ringo
