Glenn J Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Korps-Stabsveterinär Professor Hubert Kösters of the Militär-Lehrschmiede (Farrier instructional facility) in Berlin died on 11 February 1913. Regards Glenn
Guest Rick Research Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 All the condolence messages which are dated refer to a "loss" in late 1895. Timm's message specifies "... the loss of your dear child," while Berndt's is addressed to "Mr. & Mrs. Oberroßarzt." Since three of these are from Ulanen Rgt 11, I'd say that the recipient was 1895's UR 11 Oberroßarzt Viehweger. I can't find that Princess in either the 1897 or 1914 editions of the Almanac de Gotha. Amberger was born in 1885. Leutnant 08.03.05. Promoted Oberleutnant on 28.10.12. When the war started his only award was the 1905 Luitpold Jubilee Medal. Transferred to KB RIR 5, he was killed in action at Sterkte Cab on 15 November 1914.
Mike Dwyer Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 Thank you both, Glenn and Rick, for the information. Amberger didn't last very long in the war..........sad.
Glenn J Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Mike Oberstabsveterinär Dr. Arthur Berndt was the Regimental Veterinary Officer of 3. Garde-Feldartillerie-Regiment at the outbreak of the war. Regards Glenn
Mike Dwyer Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) Rick, The card for the princess isn't Imperial, it's later. I did some Internet surfing and found a genealogy website with the following information: Alexandra Anna Sophia Katharina Emilia Adrienne Gräfin von Schlitz genannt von Görtz Born Darmstadt, 1910, Died Schlitz, 13 April 1989 Married Wilhelm Prinz zu Erbach-Schönberg on 4 October 1938. So the card has to date from after the marriage. Edited October 8, 2009 by Mike Dwyer
Guest Rick Research Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Odd mixture-- most related to the Viehweger child and the rest... random across time! Dr. Garn was promoted to Generalveterinär 1 September 1942 #2-- this from Glenn's Secret 1 May 1943 Seniority List-- Just to confusify thangs, an IMPERIAL GenVet was a Colonel, but a Third Reich GenVet was the equivalent of a Generalmajor. Son in law StabsVet Borchardt was promoted to that rank on 1 August 1941 #3. He'd been in the Mounted Artillery Battalion 1 (reit. Art. Abt. 1) when the war started.
Guest Rick Research Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Continuing... von Beck can't be narrowed down-- there were THREE of them. All got the MKFVO in the World War: Bruno, Leopold, and Wolfgang. Freiherr von Rodde was promoted to Rittmeister 20.05.97 Z, transferred over to Husaren Rgt 9, was promoted to Major (13.09.06 S3s) and retired after serving 30.04.82-16.07.09. First name Georg, born in Dreetz 26.12.63. In 1913 he was living at the Hotel Prinz Friedrich Karl on Dorotheenstraße in Berlin, but was not called up for any listed WW1 service. He had RAO4, XXV, 1897, and EH3a. Paymaster Werner's Orders Almanac listing omitted his 1st name, simply listing birth year as 1847. After leaving UR 11, he served in IR 20, and retired 1912/13 as Rechnungsrat Oberzahlmeister in Husar Rgt 3. He held KO4, 70/71, 1897, and XV brooch.
Mike Dwyer Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Thanks, Rick! I really appreciate the information.
