Imperial promotions in wehrpass

Hello just starting to research the wehrpass of Paul Hellbach I have shown p22 it is the WWI promotions that interest me Unterofficer to Vizefeldwebel skips a rank and so does Vizefeldwebel to Leutnant how common is this ? Also Gerfrieter to Leutnant in two years quite a rise ! He started in I.R.94 until 13.11.15 then I.R 41 any comments welcome thanks Mark

Absolutely normal for reserve officers. Regulars didn't use the intervening ranks of career NCOs either as they advanced from (Fahnenjunker-) Unteroffizier to Fähnrich to Leutnant.
