Noor Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Hi, I have some British and South African medals and I would like to find out more about the owners of those awards. Is the research possible for any of those? 1. Voluntary Medical Service Medal Named to D.McCARDLE

Michael Johnson Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 The South African medals are very researchable. Here is a link giving a list of South African researchers: http://www.casus-belli.co.uk/index.asp?PageId=133 I have had some contact with Gordon Bickley, whose rates are reasonable.
Noor Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Thanks Michael! I will try to research the group of three first. If it's work out fine, maybe the medal as well. Thank you to the Tony F and London Gazette, I know now that the Air Efficiency Award was awarded to E.E. McCallion (63150) on 2nd February 1955.
Michael Johnson Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Both the Cape Corps ("C" prefix) and the Indian and Malay Corps ("M" prefix) were primarily used for transport and pioneer duty, but some were used in defence artillery and guard duty.
Noor Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 Next random find... Special Constabulary Long Service Medal, George V issue. Awarded to Mr. Alfred Ledger As far I understand there is 4 different type of obverses for that award?
Michael Johnson Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 The 1901 census shows 25 Alfred Ledgers. I don't think the Special Constabulary Medal appeared in the London Gazette, so that option isn't available.

Noor Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 (edited) and his service Edited January 11, 2010 by Noor
Noor Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 Now private C566546 A.MENTOOR trio is full set what is actually very nice to have.
Noor Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 Because SA group medal ribbons was ruined anyway (clued before I got the set), I was thinking to try to do some work myself and see, what would be the result ... Here is the group now. Because I was short of ribbon, reverse do not look so good but I think I should cover it with the velt again?
