Wild Card Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Gentlemen, Can anyone identify this medal? Obverse inscription: Karl Koenig von Wuerttemberg
Wild Card Posted October 30, 2009 Author Posted October 30, 2009 Reverse. Reverse inscription: Mit Gott Durch Kampf zu Sieg und Einigung
Wild Card Posted October 30, 2009 Author Posted October 30, 2009 There is also an inscription around the rim. It is a bit worn but appears to be something like this: Fund * Fein * (scroll mark?) * ?(possibly M) XX * Min Any information will be very much appreciated. Thank you for your interest. Wild Card
Naxos Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 (edited) Wild Card, not a medal but currency - its Württemberg's last silver Taler. (known as Vereinstaler) The jubilee Taler was struck to celebrate the Reichsgründung (founding of the second German Empire) and the victory over France in 1871. Edited October 30, 2009 by Naxos
Wild Card Posted November 1, 2009 Author Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) Hello Naxos, “not a medal but currency” I never gave that possibility a thought mainly because there is no monetary value (ie. “1 Thaler”) on it. Oh well, sad to find that it is not some rare, exclusive, previously unrecorded award. Thank you for your help. Best wishes, Wild Card Edited November 1, 2009 by Wild Card
