Ross Mather Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Hello, Ive just picked up a leather belt with the brass fittings. The S shape brass snake fitting is missing. It has a small semi circular ammunition pouch, the stamp on the back is only partially visible and shows 1908 (London) Ltd. Has a revolver holster that is open at both ends. The gun would be held in place by a leather strap that fits over the weapon and secured onto a brass stud. There is a sturdy truncheon holder complete with top cover and inside that, a standard truncheon. The belt itself has a stamp mark on it T.H.& S. LTD. I assume that this may be an RIC belt but would appreciate any information on the supplier etc. Thanks.................Ross
Peter Mc Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Any photos to help us Ross? From your description I doubt that it would be RIC, unless you have good provenance. The black leather belt was not used solely by the RIC but was used in other forces as well as military.
Mervyn Mitton Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Ross - if you are still having problems with pictures, email a picture and I will put it on for Peter to have a look.
Kev in Deva Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Perhaps this can be moved to the relevant section, as its posted in the website section of the Forum it might get few views? Kevin in Deva.
Peter Mc Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I think Ross has decided to post his pictures on ebay instead: An RIC(?) belt and equipment I've no reason to change my original views on this.
Ross Mather Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 Hi Mervyn, Thanks for the reply. Ive no reason to doubt the old chap that I had the belt and several other old police items from of its originality. But its surplus to my requirements and hopefully can recoup some of my outlay by selling it. Thanks anyway....Ross
