Martin W Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) Here are a set of pictures that was sent to me by a member at GCA. We have what appears to be a perfectly good Schwerin Fleet badge, and from the obverse a really nice looking one,at that. Martin. Edited January 4, 2010 by Martin W
Martin W Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) What really interests me about this badge is the reverse. The hinge block has been "cut" short on the left side. This is a feature i have never seen on a Schwerin badge before, and the hinge block appears to be of standard Schwerin stock. So,a first for me.Nevertheless an original badge,IMO. Has anyone noticed this type of "cut" on other Schwerin badges? Regards,Martin. Edited January 4, 2010 by Martin W
Phil Steele Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Never seen that before but I agree it looks ok. I had one some years back where the top of the mast near the swastika and the corresponding crossbars (I am not into Navy so dont know what they would be called) were very misformed and this was a genuine Schwerin badge. From this picture I cant say that the eagle looks like what I would expect on a Schwerin badge. Maybe the angle
Gordon Williamson Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Looks like a good original. A slightly misformed hinge wouldn't be enough to confine this one to the "reject" bin at the factory. It's on the reverse and wouldn't be seen and in any case still fulfils its function perfectly well. First time I've seen one like this though.
