Greg Collins Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Kevin, It's a pin to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. You don't see many of these around- most available pins for that event are of the bronze and enamel type. This is a definite "keeper".
HenkWillem Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I think you mean 40th anniversary? Because Kevin wrote: dates on the flag are:- 1917 - 1957.
Greg Collins Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) Absolutely correct! It is the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution! Math was never my strong suite... mea maxima culpa!:speechless: Edited January 10, 2010 by Greg Collins
Guest Rick Research Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 The hallmarks suggest this is HUNGARIAN-- not Soviet. Hungary continued using the old "Luna head" until 1965. I find no mark for 875 in my trusty Tardy "Poinçons d'Argent" but the head suggests a direct link back to the Hapsburg system.
Greg Collins Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Hmmmm... probably why we don't see either "MMD" or "LMD" on the back. As the date is 1957, Hungary would have celebrated the event as well.
