That 12 space bar is beautiful, Kevin! The only ribbon that's out of order is the 25th Anniversary- if it was placed in the 11th position, all would be correct. This bar is probably the closest to being in the correct order that I have ever seen. AND, it's Securitate!

wow! Nice...a whole new field suddenly becomes attractive.

    The 12 medal bar-is that a senior NCO or @ Majors+ bar?

Who would have worn the labour bar? Do you ever see documented sets?

The labour bar, because of the exclusion of any military awards, was probably worn by a civilian.

The 12 space bar is showing 25 years of service; the Securitate award (I'm assuming it's a 3rd Class because of it's position) in the third position was awarded to Sergeants and above, so this bar could have belonged to a career Sergeant or higher.

    Kevin,

The medal in the 4th position looks to me as if it is a "Medal for Distinguished Services in Defense of the Social Order and the Country" (RPR or '66-'68 RSR Transitional). Granted the blue is dark on the bar, but I can't figure out what else it could be, especially with the first position award being what it is. This bar appears to be from a Securitate member who served during both the RPR and RSR periods. I believe this is the first time I've seen RPR and RSR awards mixed on the same bar with respect to Securitate awards. Great find!

I picked up the two medal bars at the local Hobby Club, a lady called and from her bag proceeded to take a number of cased medals, officers dagger in original pink paper bag, the bags being very rare to see.

In the "H.C." there is an undisputed pecking order, the "President" and his cronies get first pick, we mere mortals get the crumbs, it was like a Pirrana attack as they fleeced the old dear, one guy took a boxed Order of the State, 1968 model 3, II class in Silver with red stones, and mini ribbon bar, off her hands for next to nothing and a small quality made 1 X 1/2 meter cloth Communist period Romanian National flag with yellow edge tassels (and later some of the brevets.)

Same when she brought out some medal award Brevets, including two large size in the tubes of issue and others in the folding card style, I did see one for the Securitate "Distinguished Service In Defence of the State" Medal, this was snapped up by "El Presidente" along with some other Brevets, (all to the same guy,) and for a pittance as the old dear had no idea what the stuff was really worth.

At least I can say with my hand on my heart I offered the old dear a very fair price for the two bars, I paid her what I would give at the Collectors Fair in Brasov.

The other items matched some of the ribbons on the medal bars I obtained,in 20 mins a nice set of items was broken up amongst at least 6 people (including me as I took the two ribbon bars).

I will try to find out more about the original owner from the guys at the club, with regards rank etc..etc..

10 Place Romanian Post WW2 Ribbon bar, just in the door today.

    1. Romania RPR/RSR Order of Military Merit II Class.

    2. Romania RPR/RSR Order of Military Merit III Class.

    3. Romania Order of the Star of the Romanian People's Republic, 5th Class.

    4. Romania RPR 1949 Liberation from the Fascist Yoke Medal

    5. Romania RPR 20th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Country Medal

    6. Romania Medal for Military Merit, I Class Gold (10 Years).

    7. Romania Medal for Military Merit, II Class Silver (5 Years).

    8. Romania 10 Year Anniversary of the Foundation of the Army.

    9. Soviet Russia Victory Over Germany.

    10. Soviet Medal of Bravery WW2(?)

I believe the bar was to a W.W.2 Romanian enlisted man

who then progressed through the ranks to an officer position.

    Opinions welcome.

    Hey Kevin,

Nice RPR ribbon bar! Yep, that's a Soviet Bravery medal next to the Soviet Victory Over Germany medal. Looks like this guy was either a partisan or fled Romania to the USSR early on- perhaps due to his politics- and returned with the Red Army. I doubt this particular bar was put together later than '65... typical RPR-type soldered rows instead of the one-piece metal back; also nothing later than the 20th Anniversary of Liberation medal. Nice!:D
