LeonT Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 What it for a cross?? Who handed over it, for what. The original or a fake? It is the state award or societies? Who the manufacturer and where it is made?

JBFloyd Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 A shooting society award for best shooting, 1935. The maker is in the town of Magdeburg, so it is likely that the society was in that part of Germany. The ribbon looks like is faded green and white (Saxon colors).

all1knew Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Hello there, Are there other states that have a similar medal for shooting? Are they of the same pattern or is this strictly of Saxon design? William Kramer
Scowen Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 From what I understand, these were generic medals produced by various manufacturers (the catalogues show hundreds of designs). The shooting clubs etc just selected which design they wished to use for any particular shoot. As to the ribbon, all of the Third Reich era shooting ribbons I've seen have been green & white. It's just an unfortunate coincidence that the one shown above happens to have come from the same area that used the green/white colours. Cheers Don
