i am hoping to gain a bit of insite on this particular badge, i have spent a few hours scouring the internet and have not turned up much more than the little i already knew. If anyone has information they are willing to share i would be grateful.

the first thing to point out is that this is an austrian award, not a german weimar or freikorps badge. these badges have been heavily reproduced. do you have images of the reverse? many were issued with a clip fastening device

Hi Eric,

well i didnt see that coming, the only information i could find at all said imperial navy 1914-1918, but did not really expand much beyond that. Thanks for your input.

Hi Dale,

here's mine.

It's a good copy of the original austrian empire u-boat badge,

awarded in April 1910.

Original badges are hard to find and very expensive!

Take a look at weitze.net in Hamburg.

I think he sale one.
