M Hunter Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Gentlemen, What do you make of my little bar? I have never seen this kind of combination before with Prussian Crown Order Medal and Mecklenburg-Schwerin Merit Medal. Maybe rare? Regardless, it is my first time encountering both. I like the look of it. Passes the black-light test and all materials look and feel pre-1945. This is a very well made and tightly constructed medal bar. Would these 2 awards have been awarded pre-1914? Would the owner have been a civil servant of some kind before the Great War? Obviously later a long serving Police Officer. Any help working out what kind of uniformed chap wore this would be greatly appreciated. All opinions welcome! My best Matt
Beau Newman Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 The statute ribbon for the Meckl. medal is a light blue, more or less the same as the Crown Order medal. Perhaps there was some provision for the Verdienst Medal to be awarded on the Wendisch Crown ribbon but, I am not aware of it.
M Hunter Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 (edited) I understand that the Crown Order Medals were handed out by the Kaiser at his discretion. Can anyone explain the award criteria for the Mecklenburg-Schwerin Merit Medal? Best wishes Matt Edited June 17, 2012 by M Hunter
