Balkan Cartridge/Powder Tin?

I was given this item several years ago by a friend who has no interest in Militaria. I have no idea what it is other than the handwritten card contained within.

The device contains a green glass/gemstone to the centre surrounded by what probably would have been eight smaller such items.

Any help much appreciated.

In my opinion a commercial Musket ball / wad pouch?

Gun-Powder was usually held in flasks which made

for easier pouring into the barrel of the gun.

Hallo Stuart,

to be honest, no idea, an item like this would in my opinion appeal to a

specific collector in a no doubt small section of the collecting community.

The item is hard to date unless a similar object could be seen in a period

photo from the Balkans.

Probably might be an idea to check some old auction catalogs related to East European firearms and accoutraments, or just ask for a 100 Euro at an auction.
