Sergio
Hello! I ask to express opinion concerning originality of the presented Hessian medalbar. Is it possible this combination of awards?

saschaw
The combination is possible, but not common. The three medals are private purchased replacements. I think it's a good bar.

Thank you, Saschaw! But is it NCO's or Soldier's medalbar? Edited April 25, 2010 by Sergio
Ulsterman
VERY very unusual-so unusual I think it is not original-well, suspicious anyway. It would be an enlisted mans' bar. almost certainly an NCO or some sort. Odd things did happen though-especially with senior NCOs and in the Landwehr (Feldwebel Lts and whatnot). saschaw
Unlikely a Feldwebel-Leutnant's, as they got other (higher) awards. Must be an EM's or younger NCO's. MIssing long service award is intruiging, but beware - some just did not mount them.

No offense-but not nearly as often as you'd suppose, especially the ones in garrison duty in places like Poland and Russia. The WOs and senior NCOs tended to get multiple state awards in photos and notes i have-not always-but as a tendency. There are photos out there of Gefreiters with multiple state awards, but those are super rare.
Sergio
Many thanks, Gentlemen, for the explanations! But is there an opportunity approximately to define Hessian regiment, which could cooperate with regiments from Wurtemberg and Baden?
Ulsterman
You mean in the same brigades? Yup-and also at the Corps level too. Also, some specialists (Pioneers, Signals, mapping printers etc.) got multiple awards. Notice this guy-a lowly Saxon feldwebel @ 1918:
HeikoGrusdat
Combinations of different states are always possible for regular soldiers and NCOs because of many reasons as said before.... only sometimes these reasons will show up because of a specific regiment the soldier has on the board - more often it is because of some things that happened during some years of service.... see this one... saschaw
see this one... Nice photo, but peace time awards to old serving NCOs are a somewhat different issue. Here's a ribbon bar to WW1 EM or NCO, with bravery awards from FOUR different states. No doubts about it.
