This is the same gentleman in my first post,Cape Colony sometime between 1910-1915 is my guess.

The cap ensignia appears to be a 7,perhaps 8 pointed star, cannot tell if there is a crown at the top,not enough detail.

Bruce,

possibly Cape Town Rifles so long as there is a crown to the top of the badge. It looks like there could be some voiding to the centre of the badge which contained a thistle and wreath. Pity the definition is not better but that is what we face all of the time, well almost.
