Noor Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 Here is my next "small" French ribbon bar with 24 ribbons. Owner of this set was most likely some senior officer because the Légion d'Honneur, Commander's class (awarded 1,250 times total from 14 July 1804, regarding wikipedia?). Maybe even is possible to put lost name back behind that bar? I have to do my home work propely with the ribbons 1. Legion of Honour, Commander (Légion d'Honneur, Commandeur) 2. Military Medal (Médaille Militaire) 3. War Cross (Croix de Guerre 1914-1918) 4. War Cross for Operations Overseas (Croix de Guerre des Théres d'Opétions Extéeurs(?)) 5. War Cross (Croix de Guerre 1939-1945) 6. Victory Medal 7. Italy Campaign Commemorative Medal 1943-1944 (1953) (?) 8. ? 9. Maroco Order (?) 10. Libanon Medal (?) 11. Colonial Medal 12. ? 13. ? 14. ? 15. ? 16. Combatant's Cross 17. Polish Polonia Restituta 18. ? 19. Poland Combatant Cross (?) 20. Libanon Medal (?) 21. Syria Order (?) 22. ? 23. Spain-Maroco Medal 1925-27 24. Unofficial Verdun Medal
Tim B Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Hi Timo, As I already commented on WAF, #7 is actually the WW1 French Commemorative and not the 1859 Italian Campaign Medal (5 vs 7 red stripes). #8 is the Wound Medal. Tim

Noor Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 Any help to "read" owner's service out from that bar would be great. I don't know almost anything about French military. I presume it is almost impossible to put the lost name back behind that bar (what I think should be pretty much unique combination). All the best, Timo aka Noor
