Daniel Murphy
Here is an one example of a correct back on a Bavarian Pilot Badge There are variations in the markings (which I will not get into here) Notice how cleanly the pin is attached to the curved part of the hinge. Daniel Murphy
The front. There are some unique die characteristics which I have found on the front and back and I can forward photos to selected members upon request. Stogieman
I'm sorry Daniel, but I cannot agree with your statement.... there's no shortage of original (OK, so maybe not that common, but out there) original Bavarian badges with FULL rayed backs, not with this big smooth spot in the center. In addition, there's also original Bavarian Pilot/Observer/Gunner badges that have a smooth back, with no rays.
Daniel Murphy
Having never seen a real full rayed back Bavarian badge, and having only seen the smooth back on the retired pilot badge, I will defer to you on this. Your word on this is enough, you have seen many more than I ever will. I have edited my post above to reflect that. Dan Murphy
