Chris Boonzaier Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 last year I was in a shop on manitoulin Island. They had a small display of stuff used in WW1 by one of the owners. Included was a Brodie with a cool painted badge of an indian head. I seem to remember the guy was an officer in an arty unit formed with many men from manitoulin Island? Does anyone have an idea of how rare the insignia is? I would love to get a helmet like that. Best Chris
William1 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Chris It's the insignia of the US 2nd Infantry Division, known sometimes as the Indian Head Division, which included the Marine Brigade. One or two of these have turned up on ebay and no doubt there will be more if you are patient. Recently there was a grouping that included a superb tunic with this embroidered sign on it, but alas someone had spilled green paint on the tunic!! Cheers, W.
