Yes, indeed a "mother's" medal from Fascist Italy called "Prolific Mother's" Medal created in 1939. Presented to women for bearing children for Il Duce's regime; similar to the Nazi Mother's Cross.

I have seen these with little bows on the suspension ribbon - each bow would signify an additional child. Are there bows on your ribbon?

PS: Couldn't find your other medal - but it's definitely Fascist as well.

    IrishGunner,

I attached pictures of the whole medal. There are no bows on this medal, I wasn't even sure if this was the right ribbon. Thank you for checking the other medal. I was just curious what it was for.

Looks like the wrong ribbon; see this:

One with bows and original envelope sold for just under 40 Euro on eBay Italy:

Seems like every time an Italian medal (fascist era) loses its ribbon, it is turning up with a plain black ribbon. Was this an e-bay buy?
