Claudius
Here is his tombstone... I can't read the bottom part that is partially obscured by foliage. Edited March 25, 2011 by Claudius
Harvey
I can't read the bottom part that is partially obscured by foliage. It looks like it says "Ruht Sanft," which would translate to "Gentle Rest." Which would be quite appropriate on a tombstone, IMHO.
KIR
Hi,"Ruhe sanft" or "Ruhe in Frieden" is typical! Best regards, Jens Hier ruht in Gott mein lieber Gatte, unser guter Vater Bruder u. Schwager Der Fürstl. Reussische Stallmeister Gustav Würzburg geb.[oren] d.[en] 17. Nov.[ember] 1860 gest.[orben] d.[en] 24. April 1909 Ruhe sanft Edited March 25, 2011 by KIR
Claudius
Thank you Harvey and KIR. Yes, that would be very appropriate on the tomb stone. I still can't get over how young he was when he died (48 1/2 years). I suppose a traumatic illness is as likely as an equine accident.
IrishGunner
I still can't get over how young he was when he died (48 1/2 years). I suppose a traumatic illness is as likely as an equine accident. Life expectancy for his birth year was only 50-60 years. So, a couple years early, but not so "young". Probably an accident or sudden illness.
