Ulsterman Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 The book itself is almost a day by day "diary" of events. Mobilized: August 1914. 6th army Northern France Sept. 24. 1914- Jan. 31, 1916. Mostly around Cambrai. Interestingly, on March 31, 1916 the Bavarians ordered home all 1871 veterans for 'Munich' service. 3 NCOs and 51 men who had served in 1870/71 went back to Munich! By Sept. 1916 the battalion was near Thiacourt and from Sept. 16-30th was in St. Mihiel Oct. 1916- May 1917 on the Maas ridge between Spada and St. Mihiel: Oct/November 1916 at le Mont (between Apremont and Loumont). 14th landwehr Brigade. The battalions companies seem to have been used as augmentation reserves for varied units- 2 Bav. Id etc.. May, 1917-April 17, 1918-Army Group Herzog Albrecht of wurttemberg: 6th Cav. Division. "Stationary battles in the Vogesen). June/July 1918: Stationary battles in Flanders and Artois. Reserve Corps and 9th and then 4th Army Corps. July 29th-August 5th 1918- Marching by foot from the 6th to 2nd Ar,y, thence to the 17th Army in August, 1918. Mostly around Douai
Thomas W Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 Thanks very much, Jens and Ulsterman. I appreciate it.
