The Prussian Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 (edited) Hello gentlemen! I am looking for informations about an aircraft crash in Essen (Germany), on may, 6th, 1918. A Staaken R.VI crashed in heavy fog against a hill, 7 soldiers died by that accident. Maybe this accident was noticed in the Militär-Wochenblatt. If someone has informations about this incident, I´d be glad for a scan. Thanks a lot in advance Edited March 18, 2011 by The Prussian
KenS Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 The local university has some of the MW for 1918 and I would be willing to check the next time I go. Hello gentlemen! The Prussian Posted June 12, 2011 Author Posted June 12, 2011 Hello Ken! That would be very friendly!!!!!!! If I can do something for you, let me know!!!
KenS Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I'm afraid that the MW for 1918 starts in July. I still looked though some of the ones for July and didn't see anything. Since I will be using this source in the future I will keep a look out for a mention of this incident.
Dave Danner Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 This isn't the kind of thing typically reported in the MWB at the time. The only aircraft crash mentions I find in the first half of 1918 are in articles on enemy planes being downed. I didn't see anything in the Zeitschrift für Flugtechnik und Motorluftschiffahrt either. You might have better luck with Deutsche Luftfahrt. Unfortunately, I am missing the volumes of the magazine for 1917 and 1918.

The Prussian Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 Hello! Many thanks for your work! Sad to hear that ther aren´t much ,more infos about the crash. The mystery thing is, that there were 7 soldiers died (I have all names and ranks), and one single man, who survived! I´d like to know, if he was a technican (civilian maybe)
