scottplen Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Here my latest Sgt Howard R Ball Lost on A20G 43-9462 " Mugwump" on march 19 1944 while on anti shipping attack on japanese convoy plane was lost as was crew in pacific ocean Northwest of Kairiru Island. From 8th attack Sqr. site 19th March -79-L.. Seven A20s took off to bomb and strafe a convoy northwest of Kairiru Island. One lugger was sunk by direct bomb hits. a large fox tare Charlie was sunk. One A-20 was believed shot down in the water by Strafing B-25 and one plane landed at Dumpu with machine gun holes in gunner's compartment,also believed due to strafing of the B-25. 4000 pounds of bombs were dropped and 4050 rounds of ammuntion were expended in strafing.
