Cased KVK1 opinions needed..

Hi All

I need some opinions on this cased KVK1 w/s. My concern is with the pin it just doesn't look right to me, from what i can see it's mm 50. but i can't be sure. These are the only pictures i have right now. Any opinions would be helpful and thanks for looking....

The closest I can find to your pin is a "43", Lets see what Gordon has to say

Man, that is one fat pin. Possibly a replacement??

I wish I knew more about these on sight. I usually have to ask Larry or Darrell.

Andy, glad to see you again! Quick question... What are the round markings on the lid of the Case? Doesn't look like that KVK has resided in that case for the past 60 years. Looks like something round has...

The Case is absolutely 100% original.

I wonder if Gordon has some comments on the KVK medal itself.

The pin could be a replacement, but not original to this KVK medal.

Shane..I had this case in my hands a few weeks ago and it definatly had something round in the case, i don't know what it was, a coin perhaps but the case is good i'm sure..

I'd agree the case is definitely OK. The Cross may well be OK too but close-up scans of the obverse would be needed to be sure. I think that the pin has been replaced. Its the wrong shaped pin for a "50" and it looks like it has had to be filed thinner near the top to fit into the hinge block.

Given the quality of some of the fake KVK1s that have appeared recently, definitely one that would need a bit more investigation.
