GdC26 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Gents, I bought this card, but have difficulty decyphering the dedication. Any help you can give is much appreciated. Any way to tell whether the dedication is original, or a print? Regards, Sandro
Chip Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Sandro, I believe it says, "Leopold, Prinz Regent, Generalfeldmarschall 1916". It looks like a handwritten signature, but I can say nothing about the authenticity. Chip
GdC26 Posted June 11, 2011 Author Posted June 11, 2011 (edited) Many thanks, Chip. I think you're right, except that the second line seems to read "Prinz v. Bayern". Much appreciate the help. The signature looks authentic to me as well, but I cannot see the "groving" that I would expect to see on a dedication written in pen. Perhaps I'm wrong, and is it a handwritten dedication. Chip Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 (edited) You are correct. That second word in the second line was the only one I was unsure about. You already knew! Chip Edited June 11, 2011 by Chip
