dante Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Grateful if any kind person could help me identify this officer, Initials GDL, General staff officer circa 1942 and what looks like the Hohenzollern house order.......cheers, Paul
Ulsterman Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Hmmmmmmm...technical chap huh? Ek2/HHox/?/Austrian WW1??? (doubtful)/HKx....hmmmmmm no LS but double EKs by 1942-....Hmmmmmmm......telephones? Medicos?
dante Posted August 13, 2011 Author Posted August 13, 2011 No he is definitely a staff officer as per attached pictures (pink staff, green admin)
Ulsterman Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 OK-ranks I am not a specialist in in...but are his epalettes a bit narrow? Could he be a a technical officer of some type on the OKW staff?
Ulsterman Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Oh he was definetly some sort of combat officer in WW1-they didn't hand out the HHOx for speedy telegram deliveries. But the higher up you were-and the closer to the command center-the more likely you were (and still are) to get a medal or two. I can only fathom a Staff officer without a 4 year LS medal as a Obrstlt. dR and therefore not eligable-but what sort of chap ended up on the staff as a dR?....in 1942????/
