Chris Boonzaier
Hi Chris, Not sure about the skulls. Jooste himself seems to have become a legend during the War. The more I research and learn the more humble I become regarding my personal knowledge in the varied and vast fields when collecting and researching militaria. Regards, Will Hi, there are 2 Joostes... One was with Danie Theron at the beginning of the war, but left for Europe and was the Paris Hilton of his time, doing everything to become famous. (See here...) http://www.kaiserscross.com/40184/308401.html The other was on L. Bothas staff and stayed close to Botha ever after. Not really famous, but a solid man indeed. He was a scout and despatch rider for Botha (Along with Pretorius) and served Bothas Political party loyally until Bothas death. This I think is your man. sabrigade
Thanks Chris, I managed to find some details on the "Theron" Jooste which did not make sense given the few facts I could find on my sword owner. Looking forward to the info, I am travelling again and may go to the Middle East from Washington. Regards, Will
Mervyn Mitton
I can quite see why they asked you to put on a display - I would doubt if they half of these pieces ?

William1
That is a terrific collection. As a one-time Boer War collector I still have an interest, and could happily spend an entire day browsing at your place! There is so little surviving from the Boer side. Just great to see what you have amassed.
sabrigade
Thanks William, My main purpose in collecting is to preserve and research our military heritage and also to complete as many "collections" or fields as possible for future generations of militaria enthusiasts and historians. I would also like my collection to assist as a reference for our fellow collectors. Regards, Will
