Chris Boonzaier Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Hi, If Capitaine Pierre Joseph Romain Rochas D'Aiglun has "Vicomte Pierre de" somewhere there in his name, would he be Capitaine Vicomte Pierre de Rochas D'Aiglun ? Thanks Chris
Jimmy E. Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Hi Chris, He would be "Capitaine Pierre Joseph Romain Rochas, vicomte D'Aiglun" , the title of vicomte will be placed normally at the end refering to the terittory connected to his title, in this case the region of Aiglun in Southern France. The same goes for example for "Général Gabriel Gaspard Achille Adolphe Bernon, vicomte de Montélégier". This Napoleonic Division General is connected by title to the region of Montéléger [without the i these days], also in Southern France. greetings, Jimmy
Veteran Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 (edited) Both styles have been used at times. But in all cases the "particule" de or d' is always written in small letters, never capitals : Vicomte d'Aiglun. Greetings Veteran Edited September 20, 2011 by Veteran
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Funilly enough on his death cards at the SGA they changed "Rochas de Aiglun" to "de Rochas-Aiglun" Best Chris
