JPL Posted October 23, 2011 Share Posted October 23, 2011 Found this news story: The Japanese government has announced plans to confer its prestigious “Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun” honor on Thoraya Ahmed Obaid, the first Saudi to head a UN agency. This Japanese honor has been given to Obaid, former executive director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), for her work with governments across the world to establish programs to empower women and for her achievements in the field of youth affairs.
