JPL Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, participated in a symbolic striking of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, at the Royal Canadian Mint's Ottawa facilities. See photos and speech. http://www.gg.ca/event.aspx?id=502 Jean-Paul
peter monahan Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Now if only they can avoid the plating which makes most of our new medals look as if they belong on a WWF [wrestling] champion's belt!
TacHel Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Actually the plating should be minimal since the mint has once again taken over medal production. Hopefully, gone are the days of cheap casted overplated monstruosities such as the SSM. The one thing I hope is that the award criteria won't be as horribly stupid as the previous jubilee medal.
