Dieter3
So, here's another one with a case with that "plain" hardware. This is a current Yahoo! Japan auction. I see no indication that the medal itself is fake or replica. I believe it is, would you guys agree that this is an authentic medal? If so, what period would you out this into, roughly WWII era? This type of case doesn't seem to be all that uncommon. Is the consensus indeed that these are post-war/modern replacements? I believe at least Nick believes so and I'm 99.999% in agreement, but anybody else have an opinion? Could these be perhaps a simpler version of the case introduced late into the war up until the abolishment? http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2012/post-6375-0-90854800-1343851262.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2012/post-6375-0-63899100-1343851275.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2012/post-6375-0-38020400-1343851277.jpg

No doubts about it! As for the box - I really like inscription style... Unfortunatly we don`t see the interior As for "plain" hardware as exlusive post-war feature ... Hmmm... Give me some time ;)
pieter1012
without examining the interior it is indeed difficult to determine whether the case is late war or postwar. But looking at the characters on the lid I suspect it is postwar because the late war cases would be in silver and the earlier cases have a thicker gold lettering. For what its worth. Dieter3
I can't even recall if there was an interior case picture in the auction, maybe? Oh well, too late now! I would certainly love to figure out just how post-war these are. 60s? 70s? 80s? I wonder if the intent was simply to replace missing cases for the "medal market" or to try to make cases for actual veterans/families that owned the medals, which I'm guessing would make them earlier post-war like 60s or 70s? JapanX
Nice move! Someone bought this piece (posts # 91-95) as replica at Japan Yahoo and now reselling it as original piece (naturally straight from WW II ) at american eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-1930s-WWII-JAPANESE-MILITARY-6th-CLASS-GOLDEN-KITE-MEDAL-army-navy-marine-/120977950067?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c2ad90573 Looks like this piece is quite popular
