Dieter3 Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Fairly decent piece. I find it interesting that the post-war Bakelite cases were at some point abandoned and replaced with lacquer cases. These seem very similar to the cases for the 2003+ Sacred Treasures. Clutch-type lapel button. Maybe it's just me, but these later pieces just don't seem as nice as earlier awards. Don't know, just something about them.
JapanX Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Maybe it's just me, but these later pieces just don't seem as nice as earlier awards. Don't know, just something about them. At least they changed their gilding technology ... On working one And this one is for Nick! Thanks! VJ... Very interesting figured type puncheons. To say nothing about the form of suspension ball!
Dieter3 Posted March 25, 2012 Author Posted March 25, 2012 Unfortuately, the design of the case interior doesn't even allow for the medal to sit properly! If you put the medallion into the recess the ribbon doesn't go where it's supposed to. Not sure if that's how they all are, or if somebody just didn't get this case right. Comparing to earlier awards, the recess for the medallion is situated differently so everything fits better. I think maybe attention to detail was better in the good ole' days! ;)
JapanX Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Fairly decent piece. Why? That's why! Unfortuately, the design of the case interior doesn't even allow for the medal to sit properly! We will rated this one Poor (-)
JapanX Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Na, overall I call it Good(+). You are not so strict appraiser after all :hitler:
