Possible Eastern European Monarchy Medal ?

Greetings all.

I just purchased a medal that appears to be from an Eastern or Southern European Monarchy-era country. I bought it in France, so I have no clue.

Do you know the answer to three questions:

1. what country is this from?

2. is this military, civil, association, or costume jewelry?

3. what, if anything, was this awarded for?

I only have the single photo because I do not have it in my possession yet. The reverse, though, is blank.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
