Dieter3 Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) From a current auction, a bit more than I want to or can pay at this time, but cool! I've not seen one up until now. Not the greatest pictures, but...... Edited August 1, 2012 by Dieter3
Dieter3 Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Nope! Would love to see it close up to get an idea of how it is constructed. A bit more than I want to pay though just to see that! ;)
JapanX Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Would love to see it close up to get an idea of how it is constructed. I bet same way as "plain reverse" sacred treasures ;)
drclaw Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Very nice indeed! I didn't think many people had miniatures made these days given Orders in general are not widely worn today. So this would be a rare find
fukuoka Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Probably more as a commemorative for the medal-winner, a bit of a prestige item. Anyone who gets a medal can order an official miniature (like the one shown) from the Mint at their own expense. This expense is quite high...
fukuoka Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 See the official Mint catalog here (minus prices). All pure silver ( 純銀製); all have blank reverses. http://www.mint.go.jp/coin/pdf/catalog_02.pdf

JapanX Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Another example of modern mini. This time it is Rising Sun.
Dieter3 Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 Any of you gents ever seen a Golden Kite miniature? They must exist, no?
JapanX Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Yep, of course. But I saw only post war pieces. I'll post some examples tomorrow ;)
JapanX Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Of course these are artificially created groups ... Cheers, Nick
JapanX Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I`d like to see golden kite minis from 1890-1945 period
JapanX Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Here better photos of the 3rd class mini Looks like it is two-part construction. With glue that held them together ...
