fukuoka Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Finally, Mizawa as Governor-General of Korea Auxiliary Military Police received a cash payment of 80 yen for service in the 1914-20 Incident. Dated Taisho 9, Dec. 25. Awarded by Decorations Bureau.
fukuoka Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) Interesting that he received the same medal twice, and also that the cash payment was different each time. Does his change in status (not just rank) account for this? Did he receive two medals and docs? Or 2 docs and 1 medal? Sorry for the picture quality. These were taken from a recent auction in Japan. The four documents and a single 1914-20 medal sold for 39,000 yen. Here is the original auction page: http://page13.auctio...ction/r95188306 Edited October 31, 2012 by fukuoka
Dieter3 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Fascinating! But what would be the purpose of two documents and only one medal? I would think he received two medals, perhaps for the status change or a significant, additional contribution as a result of the change in status? Don't know why else, unless it was a mistake! Another mystery! Thanks for sharing! This is the kind of thing that does make collecting more fun and interesting!
JapanX Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Interesting that he received the same medal twice, and also that the cash payment was different each time. Does his change in status (not just rank) account for this? Probably. Did he receive two medals and docs? Or 2 docs and 1 medal? The medal at photo looks brand new I wonder if anybody ever wore it... Maybe he wore another one? The four documents and a single 1914-20 medal sold for 39,000 yen. Yep, 0,5 k. I'd say quite justified price Cheers, Nick
