piekenier Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I found this badge recently, about 3cm high ,silver metal not aluminium .Seems to be very well made and real , possibly a collar badge of the 2nd Gebirgs Division ? Opinions anybody ?
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Hi, The Germans did not really have Collar badges, can we see the back of this?
piekenier Posted November 21, 2012 Author Posted November 21, 2012 http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_11_2012/post-13922-0-23310300-1353492981.jpgChris, This of course could be a cap badge .I have searched high and low to find any reference or photos of it .I thought a good guess would be the 2nd Gebigdivision.Herewith photo of back .Only the solder remains where the pin was fitted and there is no maker mark visible. It is a struck badge ,excellent quality ,non magnetic.
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 I would say from the badge that it would be worn vertically. Very nice and strange.... could it be WW1 Austrian?
