Ian Sayer Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I recently acquired a small collection of photos signed by various European military attaches to Poland and/or Warsaw iduring the 1930s. I am still trying to identify some of these individuals and I am also seeking appropriate biographical information so would appreciate any assistance, This one was the Czech military attache to Warsaw in 1937 Many thanks.
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 This is Col. Silvester, Czechoslovak military attache in Warsaw in 1930s.
Ian Sayer Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 Hi Lukasz, Thanks for that. Do you know his first name? Looks a bit like Ferdnand or Ferdinand. Is Silvester the correct spelling of his surname and do you happen to have any further biographical info on him? Regards Ian
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Yes, in all sources I have his surname is spelled SILVESTER, so I believe it is correct. Also in all the sources he is referred to as Col. Silvester, without the first name. Still I think Ferdinand could be the name. In 1938 the colonel of the General Staff Ferdinand Silvester was the chief of staff of the Czechoslovak 3rd Army and It could be him indeed. As of now I have not been able fo find his name anywhere else.
Ian Sayer Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 That's great Lukasz. It sounds very much like he could be the Colonel Ferdinand Silvester who was the Cof S. Well done and thanks very much.. Regards Ian
giller Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 According to http://armada.vojenstvi.cz/predvalecna/personalie/4.htm, in SEP 1938 col. Ferdinand SILVESTER was CoS of rear services (etapní služby) of 3rd Army. w/r
