Chip
I've seen these in museums in Europe and I know an American collector that has one. The amount of workmanship and detail is truly impressive. The only drawback with them is the silk base material, which is prone to deterioration due to the method of processing silk during that period. Ulsterman
There were about 2 dozen veterans association flags at Boxboro last year. Rick and i got to paw through them. The guy who had them offered me the 465th Regt. flag with pole and silver disks for $400. Subsequently they have been scattered to the winds but the workmanship was superb. About 10 of them ended up @ 5 iles from my house. Now the guys want $1200 a flag for them- minus the poles too.
Chip
Veteran's flags can be quite beautiful too, but they would not bring near the money that a real regimental flag would bring. The guys with the ten flags you mention are quite the capitalists (or gougers). Chip
