Here is my latest acquisition, a group of eight medals to a clerk in the Punjab regt.I had been watching it as a "Buy it now" on Ebay for over a year and when the dealer dropped the price by about $100 I figured I better get it before it's gone. Some people say sets like this don't make a remarkable, group, however things would not be as smooth without clerks taking care of your pay doc's and making sure your leave pass is submited etc. It appears that Naik Singhs career stalled in so far as rank progression is concerened.

Very nice, Lawrence. The length of time in that rank suggests to me that either he was bent but nobody could prove it, or that he was very very good and his superiors didn't want to lose his services! Or, if he were Irish, that he was too fond of bottles and punch-ups to keep a higher rank.
