    Hi lads,

Any ideas what is the item below. Also from what period it can be?

It is ca. 20 cm high. In the middle top looks like is an elephant face and horn, then there is hand of Ulster (I quess:D) and in the bottom/middle Royal Irish Fusiliers crest. Swords indicate more Middle East I presume. Perhaps Egypt era???

Any ideas regards of that would be great.

    Regards,

    Timo aka Noor

I've seen this elsewhere lately. Yes, I'd guess a bazaar made wall hanger. The swords are vaguely reminiscent of Indian tulwars - the modern tourist versions of which almost always have that awful 'lion swallowing a post' pommels. I wouldn't give it house room, myself, but maybe some Fusilier from Belfast thought it was the last word in swank.

Hi - Timo. I must say that I agree with Peter - not my 'cup of tea'. However since you are a collector of Irish Regts., then it is a good piece.

I thought India when I first looked - have a look and see where they served. Meanwhile you've got something made in a Bazaar to sell to

unwary soldiers. Since Egyptians and Indians made good livings from doing this, then I suppose it comes down to the service area. Mervyn
