JapanX Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Light Blue Roibbon Medal of Honor I have not seen a flat reverse with marks either. D would be year number 4.... A=1980, B=81, C=82, D=83..........right? And E = May - which makes sense - characters applied when manufactured, not when issued - so Pieter's July award would not likely have "G" as it would have been made in advance - is that what you are getting at? Naaaa I don`t think so man Check this out! First - this Medal of Honor on Light Blue Ribbon dated November 3, 1981
JapanX Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Next will be this Dark Blue Ribbon Medal of Honor dated from September 30, 1989.
JapanX Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) You see? A B CB - 1981 C 1982 D 1983 E 1984 F 1985 G 1986 H 1987 I 1988 J CJ (but we have CL!!!)1989 K 1990 L 1991 M 1992 P.S. By the way, now we have a new time coordinate for two-letter markes - 1981 Edited May 8, 2013 by JapanX
Dieter3 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) Here is a "SL" for 1991 - Heisei 10th Year: So the "L" is consistent with 1991, but "S"? I'm lost. Edited June 2, 2013 by Dieter3
JapanX Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) Exactly! Something strange is going on with these two letter marks  Edited June 2, 2013 by JapanX
Dieter3 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Well, one day we'll have this great mystery figured out!
fukuoka Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Not sure if this fits, since it is a different order, but this post-2003 ST medal has 'ZE' on the reverse.

JapanX Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) Here is a "SL" for 1991 - Heisei 10th Year: 51a5730b10488.jpg 51a573191a124.jpg So the "L" is consistent with 1991, but "S"? I'm lost. By the way, why 1991?! Heisei 10th Year = 1998 So this mark is absolutely out of our "alphabetical chronology" ;) Edited June 6, 2013 by JapanX
Dieter3 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 By the way, why 1991?! Heisei 10th Year = 1998 So this mark is ubsolutely out of our "alphabetical chronology" WHOOPSS! Thanks for the fix!
JapanX Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Another marked medal of honour in our pinacoteca This time it is rare 2003 medal on green ribbon
JapanX Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Nice quality these modern medals have!
utopis Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 VJ mark on a third class rising sun - I think we haven't had this one yet. It has been said before but I'll say it again: Great quality for modern day awards.

Dieter3 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Ah you're right. Oh well, surely I can't be expected to remember all topics and posts Of course not! I only expect Nick to remember everything. The scary thing is, I think he actually DOES remember everything!! Sometimes I feel lucky if I remember what happened last week.....
