    Hi guys,

My latest find, an original KM marked U-boat 8,8cm projectile,

still with a little of the yellow paint remaining.

Does anyone have good photos of the ammo rounds and the cannisters they were carried in?

I now have 10,5cm / 3,7cm and 2cm ammo from U-boats. Just need the 8,8cm casing! Anyone know of a good one for sale, please let me know.

    Regards

    Hinrik

Since this round comes from a sunk U-boat, it needed some work to preserve it. Here I have cold gunblued the base.

The case is made from steel and was so pitted that it had holes through it. I beadblasted all rust from inside, then cold galvanized it on inside.

After that was dry I used fiberglas repair mats to fill in the damaged areas on the inside. You can see the holes where I am shining the flashlight through.

Next I need to make a decision if I want to restore the round on the outside, but that would mean I woul have to paint it...and I am not sure about that. What do you guys think?

Here my Kriegsmarine flak 3,7 and 10,5 cm. Some time ago I tried to buy two different 15 cm rounds but finally I couldn't, I hope in futere I could be able to find more.

    Eduardo,

Very nice shells. They dont look recovered from the sea like mine. What 15cm are you talking about? Is that from a KM ship?

Hinrik, the 15 cm were of the secondary guns of the main ships, but the Holland guy who usually brought this things to Spain no longer comes here, so in future I( hope to find some other Kriegsmarine shells.

As an update, my Dutch Ordnance collector friend that got me all of the above mentioned U-boat rounds has found me an excellent condition 8,8cm shell casing to "marry" to the projectile. Will post photos once I have them.

This means I know have a full family of WWII German U-boat Ordnance.

Very nice and well restored too. I've tried a few things on steel cases, electrolysis and a coat of Owatrol seems to work well. Don't have access to the right equipment to try beadblasting.

On a related note, i heard through a friend the other week of someone in the local area who has a 38cm case from the Tirpitz.
