Guest Rick Research Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 These are not a pair. Brought in to be Epsonized by the Traveling Museum--afraid none of us know about Such Things. Allgemeine SS Standarte 32 (Heidelberg)
Guest Rick Research Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Haven't a clue, us, if there even is a way to tell Allgemeine SS from Waffen SS? Cheapo Obersturmführer peeled his tab off, sewed in his Hauptsturmführer's second stripe... and had to move the pips to space nicely. OK, you who are wise in the ways of such dark, ungentlemanly things... are these OK?
Paul R Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I guess that anything is possible, but that is definitely a lot of trouble to modify or promote an SS officer. Supplies must have been really scarce or the officer really broke.
Robin Lumsden Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Both look OK.Tabs were often bastardised by their owners on promotion.I've done it myself .............. with police shoulder boards! ;)
Robin Lumsden Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 A couple of pix of similarly bastardised tabs ............... note overlap of second stripe and first pip .........
Guest Rick Research Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Much appreciated--thanks! We have tried to be more inclusive at the Traveling Museum and have occasional 3-R visitors to the Epson.
