gregM Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 I did a little more research---The 4th battalion, 9th infantry division was assigned to the 25th Infantry division.RVNfrom 1966 to to 1970 and received 2 presidential citations for operations around Cu Chi.I found this picture taken at the EM club at Tay Ninh in 1968 showing the MANCHU rocker abovea 25th patch[attachmentid=27921]
Bob Hunter Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 ...and I'll bet you can guess where the "Manchu" nickname comes from.
ehrentitle Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 ...and I'll bet you can guess where the "Manchu" nickname comes from. It's the nickname of the 9th Infantry Regiment (not Division) of which the 4th Battalion 9th Infantry Regiment was stationed in Alaska prior to deployment to Vetnam and assigment to the 25th ID. Manchu came from the regiment's service in China in 1900 during the China Relief Expedition.Kevin
