TacHel Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 2013 - For those interested in uniforms and ranks, the rank insignia for a Russian "Army General" (4 stars) has returned to its pre 1997 design (single large star). In the photo below (click to enlarge) you can see President Putin with Army General Valery Gerasimov, chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the RF wearing the current pattern combat uniform with the new rank insignia. Interesting to note the undress ribbons being worn on the combat uniform. Another interesting point is the current defense minister, Sergei Shoïgu, wearing the same rank. (Defense Minister Shoïgu was the Minister in charge of the Ministry for Emergency Situations from 1991 to 1999) The new rank insignia on the dress uniform. All photos courtesy of www.kremlin.ru
