Chris Boonzaier Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 This is really interesting..... A doc from 1918 saying "he should get an EK1... but we dont have anymore...."
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 I assume in 1934 Germans were getting back into uniform, ironing their quickly bought Brown Shirts.... and he seems to have applied for the EK1 they did not have for him in 1918... It is a very unusual document....
Guest Rick Research Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Epson scanner, please!!!!! That IS a first--that they actually GAVE him one, then--and didn't just say "OK, go ahead and buy one, fella." Very interesting indeed. Even with horrid scans.
Guest Rick Research Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 (edited) And what kind of a CHEAPO was he, anyway--waited all that time when he could have bought one with his existing paperwork for about RM 6! Edited September 11, 2013 by Rick Research
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Hi, 2 possibilities.... 1) Between 1918 and the time the Nazis took power there was little need for awards... then everyone was falling over themselves to join the SA, NSKK, or some other uniformed assoc. and medals became more interesting... Or 2) He had bought one, but figured he was owed one by the state....
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 13, 2013 Author Posted September 13, 2013 What is really interesting is that it considered to be the real Besitzzeugnis, and not marked "Zweitschrift" or anything...
