timroutley Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 As some of you may know, I'm a serving Police Officer working in Plymouth, currently on a Response team. I have recently started a collection of antique Truncheons, and I now have two......but it's early days yet! Something that I would really like to add to my collection is a Truncheon or Tipstaff from Plymouth, and so I'm hoping that if anyone is aware of such items for sale, could they please let me know. The reason I'm asking this on here is because there are members from all over the world, and I'm pretty sure these items are probably scattered all over the globe now. Look forward to hearing from anyone with information. Regards Tim
Mervyn Mitton Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 The square headed mace style of truncheon is quite common for Cornwall. Many of the Parish Constable's carried this pattern - you can get more information on four sides. Apart from letting auction houses know of your interest - I would also advise small adverts in the classified sections. Mervyn
Ross Mather Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Have posted an article on here about a Dorset decorated truncheon that I have.....'Manor of Up Cerne'
